UNIMAID Vice-Chancellor Commends NASU National Body for Support

The University of Maiduguri has commended the National Executive Members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) for their generosity and commitment to supporting university staff affected by a recent flood disaster.

 

Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, the Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAID, received the NASU delegation at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Council Chamber Annex on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Representing the Vice-Chancellor, University Librarian Professor Yahaya Aliyu acknowledged NASU's financial assistance, worth millions of naira, aimed at alleviating losses incurred due to the flood.

Comrade Buhari Suleiman, National Deputy President of NASU, expressed sympathy to the Vice-Chancellor and the Borno State Government over last year's flooding in Maiduguri. He described the gesture as a demonstration of the union's solidarity with the university community.

The university management has been commended for its continuous support of the UNIMAID NASU branch, and Comrade Suleiman urged them to maintain their cooperative stance towards the union .
