University College Hospital Ibadan's School of Medical Laboratory Science Marks 50+ Years of Excellence

The School of Medical Laboratory Science, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, celebrated over 50 years of excellence in training, professionalism, and service to humanity with a symposium held at Alice Place Event Centre on November 7, 2025.

The school has built a reputation for academic distinction, professionalism, and research excellence since its establishment in 1953.

Alumni have distinguished themselves in healthcare and research globally, contributing significantly to medical diagnosis and healthcare delivery.

The programme now leads to a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) degree, involving five years of academic study, one year of internship, and NYSC participation.

Rev'd Idowu Akinbola reflected on the school's past with gratitude and looked to the future with hope and commitment.

- *Head of School*: Dr. Mrs. Oluwafunmilayo A. Ayodele welcomed guests, recalling the humble beginnings of Medical Laboratory Scientist training in Ibadan.
