NSUK Staff Cooperative Re-elects Yakubu, Constitutes Byelaws Review Committee

The Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) Staff Cooperative and Thrift Society has re-elected Comrade Tanimu Yakubu as President, alongside members of the Executive Committee, for a second two-year term.

The re-election and inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, also featured the constitution of a Byelaws Review Committee to update the Society's operational framework in line with its growth and current realities.

The re-elected executives were sworn in and presented with Certificates of Return, with a commitment to uphold the Society's constitution, transparency and accountability.

Other members of the Executive Committee are Comrade Isa O. Giza, Vice President; Comrade Ja'afaru Abdullahi Abubakar, Secretary; Hajara A. Aliyu, Treasurer; Bukola Julianah Oluyole, Assistant Secretary; Jemima Yohanna, Financial Secretary; Ajipson Asinga Sunday, Public Relations Officer; Musa Suleiman Danladi, Auditor General; and Ismail Suleiman, Investment Officer.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Yakubu thanked members for renewing their confidence in the administration, describing the mandate as a call to greater service and accountability.

He disclosed that the Society had grown to about 500 active members, with a financial service base exceeding N200 million, attributing the achievement to prompt loan disbursement, accountability and active member participation.

The President directed the newly constituted Byelaws Review Committee to commence work immediately and consult widely with members towards developing a comprehensive and acceptable framework for the effective administration of the Society.

Speaking on behalf of the Nasarawa State Ministry of Trade and Investment, Mr. Usman Abdullahi Garba, representing the Director of Cooperatives, commended the Society for its contribution to collective wealth creation, stressing the importance of discipline, integrity and timely loan repayment.

The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Joel Iduwa Samuel, presented the final electoral report, describing the process as transparent and reflective of members' wishes. Members of the Electoral Committee were presented with Certificates of Merit before the committee was formally dissolved.

In his vote of thanks, the Vice President, Comrade Isa O. Giza, assured members that the administration would remain committed to the Cooperative's constitution while consolidating its achievements and improving staff welfare.
