University of Abuja Partners with Brazilian University to Drive Global Academic Exchange

The University of Abuja and the Universidade do Estado da Bahia, Brazil, have formalised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and professional exchange between the two institutions.

The agreement was formalised in Brasília on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, by the Rector of the Universidade do Estado da Bahia, Professor Adriana dos Santos Marmori Lima, and the Director of Advancement and International Linkages of the University of Abuja, Professor Olanrewaju Aladeitan, who signed on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi.

The MoU will facilitate staff and student exchanges, joint research activities, short-term training programmes, and the exchange of academic publications, teaching materials, and other scholarly resources.

Commenting on the development, Fawehinmi said the agreement represents a deliberate step by the University to deepen its international academic partnerships and broaden opportunities for staff and students.

“This agreement with the Universidade do Estado da Bahia will create great opportunities for students and staff of both institutions,” he said. “We look forward to productive collaboration that will benefit both institutions through strong academic exchange and cooperation.”

The development comes as the University of Abuja continues to grow its international patnerships, with four Brazilian universities currently in discussions on possible academic collaboration.
