University of Jos Student Arrested for Murder and Burial of Colleague

The University of Jos community is reeling after a 23-year-old student, David Nanpon Timmap, was arrested for allegedly killing and burying his 22-year-old colleague, Peter Mata Mafurai, in a shallow grave behind his off-campus residence in Rusau village.

Timmap, a 200-level Agricultural Science student, reportedly attacked Mafurai, a 300-level Banking and Finance student, with a machete over a misunderstanding related to a joint music project. The victim's body was recovered, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the brutal act.

The incident has raised concerns about the upcoming Nigerian University Games (NUGA) 2025, scheduled to be hosted by the University of Jos in 10 days.
