A group of final year students at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has appealed to the institution's management and senate to reconsider its policy on students with carryovers.

In a petition tagged #unimaidstudentdemand, the students requested that those with only one carryover be allowed to graduate, citing the challenging circumstances they face in the country, including the difficulty of commuting between their homes and the university.
