The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of four new health-related undergraduate programmes at the University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of four new health-related undergraduate programmes at the University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by a delegation from the Commission in April 2026.

The newly approved programmes are:

  • Nursing Science
  • Medical Laboratory Science
  • Doctor of Physiotherapy
  • Community Health

According to the university, the approval was formally communicated in a letter dated June 16, 2026, signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, described the approval as a significant milestone in the institution's growth and commended the university's founder, Governing Council, management, staff, students and other stakeholders for their collective contributions to the achievement.

He stated that the approval reflects the university's commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance and sustained investment in human and physical resources.

The Vice-Chancellor also assured prospective students and parents that the university would continue to uphold high academic standards while producing competent healthcare professionals equipped to compete both nationally and globally.
