UNIZIK VC Pays Courtesy Visit to Igwe Kenneth Orizu III Amid Hostel Commissioning

On Friday, 20th February 2026, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, led a delegation of the University’s management to pay a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, HRM Igwe Kenneth Orizu III.

On Friday, 20th February 2026, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, led a delegation of the University’s management to pay a courtesy visit to the Traditional Ruler of Nnewi, HRM Igwe Kenneth Orizu III.

Prof. Anyaehie acknowledged the delay in paying homage, attributing it to the responsibilities of assuming office as a new Vice-Chancellor, and expressed gratitude for the monarch’s continued support and the strong relationship between the University and the Nnewi royal institution. He noted that the visit coincided with the commissioning of the 30-bedroom hostel donated by the Bank of Industry, making it a timely occasion to honor the monarch.

Representing the Bank of Industry, Mallam Omar Shekarau thanked God for the good health of Igwe Orizu III and reaffirmed the Bank’s commitment to initiatives that positively impact communities. He also recognized Chief Chukwuemeka Nzewi for facilitating the hostel project and commended UNIZIK’s peaceful environment.

Receiving the delegation, Prince Dr. Obi Orizu, the first son of Igwe Orizu III, gave a historical overview of the Orizu dynasty and highlighted the monarch’s contributions to UNIZIK, including the donation of the Igwe Orizu III ICT Centre and land for University development. He prayed for God’s continued blessings on the monarch for his unwavering support.

A notable moment of the visit was the presentation of commemorative signage by Igwe Orizu III, through Prince Obi Orizu, to both the Vice-Chancellor and the Managing Director of the Bank of Industry.

In his vote of thanks, Prof. J.K.C. Emejulu, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, extended gratitude to the Bank of Industry for the hostel donation and to Igwe Orizu III for the warm reception and sustained support toward the University.
