WAHO Pays Courtesy Visit to UCH Management, Strengthens Health Training Partnership

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) paid a courtesy call to the UCH Management at the hospital's boardroom on 5th July, 2026.

The Director General of the West African Health Organisation, WAHO, Dr. Melchior Athanase, said the purpose of the visit was to maintain and strengthen the relationship between WAHO and UCH. He stated that the WAHO team was in Ibadan to finalise the training manual after validating 58 curricula for the region, and added that WAHO is embarking on another workshop for the South-West region.

He noted that UCH is a training centre for healthcare professionals and symbolises excellence. He further stressed that UCH, Ibadan, is the cradle of training healthcare professionals. 

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, CMAC, Prof. Olubukola Adesina, welcomed the Director General and his team to UCH, Ibadan. She said, the choice of Ibadan as a training centre underscores the institution’s reputation, and expressed confidence that participants would gain a lot from UCH.

She stated that, UCH is always ready to strategically position itself to offer excellent training and to provide affordable and accessible healthcare delivery. 

She further said that, WAHO’s visit to Ibadan is a validation of UCH’s mandate of Clinical Research, Training and Service. She added that UCH remains committed to supporting the training of its staff and others.
