Yemetu DPO Visits UCH Management to Strengthen Safety and Conflict Resolution

In a strategic move to bolster campus safety, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Yemetu Police Station, CSP Mustapha Akeem, paid a courtesy visit to the Management of University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on April 9th, 2026.

The meeting, held in the hospital’s Boardroom, focused on enhancing the security architecture of the premier teaching hospital and fostering a peaceful environment for healthcare delivery.

During the session, CSP Akeem explained that the primary objective of the visit was to assess the current security situation within the hospital premises. He proposed the implementation of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms to maintain a calm atmosphere and prevent minor grievances from escalating. The DPO expressed his commitment to collaborating with the hospital management to ensure the rigorous protection of lives and property.

Responding to the delegation, the Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, welcomed the initiative, describing the relationship between UCH and the Nigeria Police Force as "symbiotic."

The CMD identified specific high-priority areas where police support is essential to augment the hospital’s internal security personnel. He further appealed for rapid response times to security calls, emphasizing that prompt police intervention is critical for maintaining order and managing emergencies within the vast hospital complex.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to establish more direct communication channels between the hospital’s security unit and the Yemetu Police Station.
