Zulum Inaugurates Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital Board

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has inaugurated the Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital Board, along with two other healthcare boards in the state.

The inaugurated boards include the Borno State Hospitals Management Board and the Borno State Primary Healthcare Development Board.

Governor Zulum announced that the Kashim Ibrahim Teaching Hospital, formerly Borno State University Teaching Hospital, will commence operations by May this year. He emphasized the state government's efforts to reposition the healthcare sector for maximum benefit.

 

The Governor tasked the Hospitals Management Board with administering and managing all state hospitals, while the Primary Healthcare Board is expected to provide integrated primary healthcare services and cater for community-level healthcare needs.

Chairman of the Boards include Dr. Joseph Jatau (Hospital Management Board), Hajja Yagana Alkali (Primary Healthcare Development Board), and Professor Ahmed Ahidjo (Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital).

 

Professor Ahidjo expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for establishing the teaching hospital, which he believes will address the dire need for quality healthcare in the state and northeast zone. He noted that the establishment of the State Teaching Hospital will address the deficit of doctors and other health workers, while reducing pressure on existing healthcare facilities .
