14th Matriculation: Lenspoly Offa Rector Charges New Students on Discipline, Academic Excellence
The Rector of Lens Polytechnic Offa Kwara State, Dr. Mrs. Mulikat Bolajoko Aliyu has charged the newly admitted students to embrace discipline, vision, and academic excellence.
The Rector disclosed this during the 14th matriculation ceremony held on Thursday, 29 January 2026 at the Polytechnic Permanent Site.
Delivering the matriculation address, the Rector noted that the 14th matriculation ceremony reflects the steady growth and increasing confidence in the academic standards of the polytechnic. She therefore charged the matriculating students to justify their admission by shunning all forms of misconduct and committing themselves to diligence, discipline, and obedience to the rules and regulations of the institution.
Also speaking, Vice Chancellor of Lens University, Dr. Azeez Yisa, FCA, expressed appreciation to parents, guardians, and well-wishers for their support and presence at the ceremony. He advised the students to remain focused and disciplined, stressing that anything worth doing is worth doing well. While explaining the philosophy behind the name of the institution, Dr. Azeez described “Lens” as the ability to see beyond one’s horizon, urging the new intakes to pursue their dreams with clear vision and strong moral principles. He further warned against cultism and negative peer influence, encouraging the students to uphold the good image of the institution at all times.
In his goodwill message, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Engr. Dr. Kadiri Kamoru Oluwatoyin FNSE congratulated the management of Lens Polytechnic on the successful conduct of the matriculation ceremony. He reminded the students that admission into a tertiary institution is a privilege that comes with responsibility, urging them to take their studies seriously and see education as a vital tool for national development.
Similarly, the Alagure of Offa, Chief Bode Onawola representing Olofa of Offa admonished the students to respect constituted authority and uphold good character; he noted that moral discipline remains the foundation of academic success. He also commended the institution for its contribution to educational development within Offa and its environment.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Divisional Police Officer, Uwagboe Omoruyi cautioned the students against vices that are capable of truncating their academic pursuits. He assured the institution of the Nigeria Police Force’s readiness to collaborate with the management in ensuring a peaceful learning environment.
In addition, the representative of the Nigerian Navy Commandant, A. A. Aderibigbe, advised the students to remain law-abiding and disciplined, stressing that security agencies would not condone any form of indiscipline but would continue to support initiatives that promote safety on campus.
The newly admitted students were officially placed on matriculation oath by the registrar, Mr. Hammed Sarafa Olalekan as bonafide students of Lens Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State.
