2353 NYSC Corps Members complete 2021 Batch C Stream 1 service year in Osun State
A total of 2353 Corps Members have successfully completed the one year mandatory service for the 2021 Batch C Stream 1 service year, having fulfilled the requirements for the issuance of the Certificate of National Service in Osun State.
This was made known by the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab at the State Secretariat in Osogbo on Thursday.
Olayinka also made it known that the Scheme as a training ground for mobilised graduates employs the system of the carrot and stick to achieve her objective of instiling discipline in the Members. She stated that in view of this, 14 Members had their service year extended for various infractions while 7 were declared abscondees for their incessant absence from their Places of Primary Assignments for the number of period stipulated in the NYSC Bye-laws.
Olayinka who visited some of the local governments during the POP exercise which was low-keyed, thanked the Corps Members for the selfless service rendered during their service year. She stated that the impact they had made in the various host communities will forever be cherished and relived by the good people of the community.
She urged them to utilise the trainings garnered during the course of the service as they step into the larger and competitive society. She reminded them of the Skills instilled in them through the Orientation and post orientation experience and charged them never to let go of them.
She also appreciated Corps Employers and the good people of Osun State for embracing the Members and treating them like their kin. She thanked the field officers for discharging their duty of being in locoparentis to the Corps Members well and urged them to keep up the good work.
A visit also to Osogbo and Olorunda Local Government Areas saw Corps Members basking in euphoria as they thanked God for a successful service year.
Many of the passing out Corps Members expressed their immense gratitude to the State Coordinator, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab and the NYSC officials at large for a job well done in seeing to it that they had a wonderful service year in Osun State.
