This achievement comes after a remarkable 28 years since Bettis left his education to focus on his football career.

In an interview with NBC, Bettis described the strangeness of being behind the times and struggling with technology. He highlighted the commitment he made to his mother to complete his degree, stating, "I promised my mother that I would get my degree. In my immediate family, I'll be the first person to graduate from college."

Bettis emphasized the significance of this accomplishment for his two children, stating, "For them to see dad finish a commitment that he set out some 27 years ago, for me to complete that, I think it says a lot to them."
