ABU Announces Commencement of 2025/2026 Academic Session, Sets Registration and Lecture Dates

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has officially announced the commencement of the 2025/2026 academic session for both fresh and returning students across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

According to a statement released by the University Management, the new academic session will begin on Monday, 5 January 2026, in line with the approved academic calendar.

The management confirmed that student registration will commence on Monday, 5 January 2026, while lectures are scheduled to begin on Monday, 12 January 2026.

In addition, the university disclosed that the accommodation portal will open on Monday, 5 January 2026, allowing students to apply and click for available hostel bed spaces. This follows the earlier opening of the registration portal.

The management also issued an important advisory to students who applied for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund). Such students have been directed to proceed with payment of their fees in order to meet registration deadlines, with assurance that refunds will be made once NELFund disbursements are received by the university.

Furthermore, the university clarified that screening of fresh students will continue concurrently with registration and lectures, ensuring that admission processes are completed without disrupting academic activities.
