ABU VC Commends ENACTUS Team Following ₦50m National Competition Win
The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has lauded the institution’s ENACTUS team for their remarkable success at the 2026 Student Ventures Capital Grant competition. The team emerged as the overall winner, securing ₦50 million in equity-free funding to scale their innovative products.
The competition, organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in Lagos, saw ABU outshine over 30,000 submissions from across the country.
During a formal presentation of the award on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Professor Ahmed praised the team’s tenacity, noting that the grant would provide the necessary impetus to move their products from the laboratory to the commercial market.

"The university management will continue to support the team to ensure they remain 'naturally ahead' in both national and international arenas," the Vice-Chancellor assured. He also extended special appreciation to the Faculty Advisor, Professor M.K. Aliyu, for his consistent mentorship.
Professor Aliyu highlighted that the ABU ENACTUS team, established in 2004, remains the oldest and most successful of the 40 ENACTUS teams in Nigeria. The team’s venture, PUP Industries, has a history of winning accolades with its core products and is now poised for full-scale commercial operations.
Team Lead Abdulfatah Omisanya explained that the ₦50 million grant is specifically designed to scale student ventures to the commercial stage. The team is expected to run the business at full scale for an initial eight-month supervised period to ensure long-term sustainability.
This victory further solidifies Ahmadu Bello University’s reputation as a leading hub for social entrepreneurship and practical innovation in Nigeria.
