ABU Zaria Mourns the Transition of Distinguished Scholar, Prof. O. S. Abejide

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) community is in mourning following the passing of Professor Olugbwnga Samuel Abejide, an eminent scholar and pillar of the Faculty of Engineering. Professor Abejide passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

In an official statement released on behalf of the Faculty, the Dean, Engr. Professor J. M. Kaura, expressed profound grief, describing the loss as monumental for the Department of Civil Engineering and the wider Nigerian academic community.

Professor Abejide was widely regarded as a "gentleman-scholar" whose career at ABU Zaria was defined by uncommon dedication to engineering education. Known for his rigorous and methodical teaching style, he was celebrated for shaping the minds of generations of engineers, instilling in them both technical proficiency and ethical consciousness.

His research contributions were marked by precision and innovation, bridging the gap between classroom theory and professional engineering practice.
