Acting Provost Reaffirms Commitment to Sustaining Standards in AKCILS/FUDMA Degree Affiliation Programme

The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies, AKCILS, Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az, has reaffirmed the commitment of the College Management to uphold the highest academic standards in order to sustain and strengthen the College's degree affiliation programme with the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, FUDMA.

Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az made the pledge on Friday during the symbolic distribution of admission letters and identity cards to students of the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 FUDMA/AKCILS Degree Affiliation Programme held at the College.

The Acting Provost stated that for over fifty years, AKCILS has remained a beacon of academic excellence, discipline and moral values, stressing that the institution has no intention of compromising the standards that have earned it national recognition.

"For the past fifty years, this College has maintained high standards. We kept those standards to become what we are known today," he said.

He explained that the College's unwavering commitment to quality assurance and compliance with academic regulations has enabled it to maintain a successful affiliation with FUDMA.

According to him, although FUDMA discontinued affiliation programmes with some institutions, AKCILS retained its affiliation because of its consistent adherence to the laid-down standards and its readiness to comply with the University's academic requirements.

The Acting Provost assured students and stakeholders that the College would continue to protect and strengthen the affiliation programme.

"I want to assure you that our degree affiliation programme will remain intact. We will continue to do everything within our capacity to maintain and even elevate the programme to higher standards," he added.

Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu'az also appreciated the Management of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma for the cordial relationship and support extended to AKCILS over the years.

He further disclosed his intention to champion the campaign for the Federal Government to review the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, policy affecting graduates of affiliated degree programmes.

"We want the Federal Government to review the exclusion of students of affiliated degree programmes from the NYSC scheme across the country," he stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the Deputy Director, Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Dr. Mammam Muhammad, who led the FUDMA delegation for the distribution exercise, disclosed that the University had produced a total of 2,208 identity cards for students of the AKCILS/FUDMA Degree Affiliation Programme.

Dr. Muhammad commended the College Management for its effective handling of the programme, noting that all academic activities of the affiliation programme are conducted under the strict supervision and control of FUDMA to ensure quality and compliance with University regulations.

He also clarified that the duration of the affiliated degree programme is five years.

The symbolic distribution of admission letters and identity cards marked another significant milestone in the continued partnership between Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies and the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, aimed at expanding access to quality university education while maintaining academic excellence.
