Ahmadu Bello University Commissions New Building for ACENPEE

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has commissioned a new building for the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE).

The ceremony took place yesterday at the Centre's premises, opposite the College of Medicine, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.

 

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala expressed his delight at witnessing the event, describing it as a first-of-its-kind in the university. He congratulated ACENPEE Director Prof. Raymond B. Bako on his role in the Centre's development and thanked him for his contributions to the university's building and landscaping ¹.

Prof. Bako revealed that ACENPEE is a World Bank-supported project, executed to improve the quality of engineering education in Africa. The Centre is focused on enhancing engineering education through innovative teaching methods, curriculum development, and research .

 

The commissioning of the new building marks a significant milestone for ACENPEE, as it meets one of the World Bank's requirements for verification. The Bank will inspect the project, and if it meets their standards, the Centre will receive additional funding .

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Deputy Vice-Chancellors Prof. Ahmed Doko Ibrahim and Prof. Sanusi Aliyu Rafindadi, as well as Deans and Directors from various faculties .

 

This development is expected to strengthen ABU's position as a leading institution in engineering education in Africa, and ACENPEE's new building will provide a conducive environment for innovative teaching, learning, and research.
