Ahmadu Bello University Extends Deadline for Research Commercialization Submissions; Encourages Innovation
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has issued a final call to its academic community to submit research and innovation outputs with commercialization potential.
The university's Committee on Research Commercialization and Knowledge Transfer (RC&KT) is actively seeking viable intellectual property to help staff and students reap financial benefits from their work.
In a special bulletin dated Monday, January 26, 2026, the RC&KT Committee announced an extension for the submission deadline:
New Extended Deadline: On or before Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Objective: Translating Research into Financial Reward
The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between academic innovation and the marketplace. According to the bulletin, the university aims to "produce high level human power and enhance capacity building" while fostering intellectual and economic development.
The committee is specifically requesting memoranda containing:
Intellectual Property (IP): Existing patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc.
Novel Concepts: Prototypes and research efforts that demonstrate strong commercialization potential.

The bulletin was signed by Professor Mohammed F. Ishiyaku, Chairman of the RC&KT Committee, and published by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.
