The Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has released official guidelines for its upcoming Executive and Parliamentary Student Union elections, scheduled for Friday, 6th March 2026.
According to the Students’ Affairs Division, the electoral process will begin with a screening exercise for all aspirants on Wednesday, 4th March, at 10:00 am at the Students’ Affairs Division, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden. Candidates for President and Secretary General must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50, while those vying for other executive and parliamentary positions must possess a CGPA of 3.00 or higher. This will be followed by a mandatory security clearance at 12 noon on the same day.
The university has prohibited any form of pre-election agreements, stakeholder consensus, or campaigning before the official notice is lifted. Campaigning on the election day itself is strictly forbidden, and violations risk disqualification.

Election agents must submit their names and passport photographs to the Secretary of the Electoral Commission three days before the election, while observers must obtain clearance one week in advance. Candidates will present their manifestos on Thursday, 5th March, at the TETFund PAV I, Ikot Akpaden, ahead of the E-Voting election on Friday.
The announcement aligns with a previous directive requiring all faculties and departments to conduct fresh student elections and swear in new executives before January 31, 2026, with penalties for non-compliance.
