Al-Hikmah University Student to Represent Nigeria at International Qur’ān Competition in Iran

Al-Hassan Ali Miqdad, an undergraduate student at Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, has emerged as the sole candidate selected to represent Nigeria at the upcoming Iranian International Qur’ān Competition for university students.

The prestigious event is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 16, 2026, in the Iranian capital, Tehran. Miqdad, a student of Islamic Studies Education in the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education, will compete against representatives from 27 countries, including Egypt, Morocco, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Jordan.

The competition is highly specialized, open only to students who have achieved full memorization of the Holy Qur’ān with mastery in Tajwīd (rules of recitation) and the various Qirā’āt (modes of recitation).

In a statement released by the university, the Vice-Chancellor and Management expressed their immense pride in Miqdad’s achievement, wishing him a successful outing and praying for his victory on the global stage.

His selection positions Al-Hikmah University and Nigeria as key participants in the 2026 international circuit of Islamic scholarship and academic excellence.
