ASUP to Inaugurate Chapter at Federal Polytechnic Ayede as Rector’s Inclusive Leadership Earns Commendation
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) is set to formally inaugurate its chapter at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, marking a significant institutional milestone attributed to the inclusive, transparent, and staff-friendly leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE).
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) is set to formally inaugurate its chapter at the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, marking a significant institutional milestone attributed to the inclusive, transparent, and staff-friendly leadership of the Rector, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE).

This was disclosed in a formal notice addressed to the Rector by the ASUP Zone C Coordinator, Comrade Adekunle Nurudeen Masopa, who commended the Polytechnic’s Management for its exceptional cooperation, openness, and support, describing these factors as critical to the successful establishment of the union in the institution.
According to the union, the Management’s disposition reflects a leadership style that respects due process, promotes industrial harmony, and recognises legitimate staff engagement as a cornerstone of sustainable institutional development.
As part of activities to mark the historic inauguration, ASUP has scheduled a four-day 3-in-1 programme comprising members’ orientation, election of officers, and formal inauguration of the chapter. The ASUP Zonal Team is expected to arrive on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Orientation for members will hold on Wednesday, February 4, while the election and inauguration of chapter officers are scheduled for Thursday, February 5. The delegation will depart on Friday, February 6, 2026.
To ensure transparency and credibility in line with the values upheld by the current administration, the union has requested the constitution of a five-member Electoral Committee to oversee a free, fair, and widely acceptable electoral process.
ASUP further reaffirmed its appreciation to the Management of Federal Polytechnic Ayede for fostering a cordial and collaborative relationship, describing the institution as a growing model of progressive leadership and mutual respect in Nigeria’s polytechnic system.
The forthcoming inauguration of the ASUP chapter represents another key institution-building achievement under the stewardship of Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed (FNSE), whose leadership continues to strengthen governance structures, inspire staff confidence, and position Federal Polytechnic Ayede as an emerging hub of academic stability and excellence.
