ASUU Strike: Students Forced Out of Examination Halls at Nasarawa State University, Keffi

There was mild drama at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) earlier today as members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) reportedly drove students out of examination halls following the commencement of a two-week warning strike.

The industrial action, which is part of a nationwide strike declared by ASUU, has resulted in the suspension of all academic activities, including ongoing examinations and lectures across the institution.

Eyewitnesses said that several students were already seated for their scheduled exams when union officials entered various halls to enforce compliance with the strike directive. The enforcement led to the abrupt halt of examinations, leaving many students frustrated and confused.

ASUU officials at the university maintained that the action was in line with the national directive from the union’s leadership, aimed at pressing home unresolved demands concerning lecturers’ welfare, funding for universities, and the implementation of previous agreements with the Federal Government.

Students and staff have been advised to remain calm and comply with the strike directive pending further communication from both the university management and ASUU leadership.

The development has once again sparked concerns about the recurring disruption of academic calendars in Nigerian universities due to industrial actions.
