Bauchi State Government Approves Reopening of All Schools From January 4, 2026
The Bauchi State Government has approved the reopening of all basic, senior secondary, and tertiary institutions across the state with effect from Sunday, January 4, 2026.
The decision followed extensive consultations with school principals, education sector managers, and private school proprietors, and received the approval of the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.
A statement signed by the Information and Public Relations Officer, Jalaloksen Usmani, on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner for Education, also confirmed the immediate reopening of the three Federal Government Unity Colleges located in the state, in line with directives from the Federal Ministry of Education.
Schools in Bauchi State were earlier closed based on security advisories arising from incidents in educational institutions across the country. The government stated that the decision to reopen schools was informed by a significant improvement in the security situation.
Parents and guardians were advised to ensure the prompt return of their children and wards to school, as the government assured that additional security measures are being implemented to safeguard students as well as teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Ministry of Education expressed appreciation to the public for their patience and cooperation as academic activities resume across the state.
