Bayero University Kano Offers Free Anthrax Animal Vaccination

Bayero University Kano's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, in collaboration with the Bayero University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, has launched a free anthrax animal vaccination program for sheep, goats, and cattle within the university and on personal farms.

 

The vaccination exercise, which commenced on Monday, March 24, 2025, aims to prevent the spread of anthrax, a zoonotic disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans.

University community members who keep animals on campus or personal farms are required to submit details of their livestock population and location for proper vaccination arrangements. The vaccination program will run until Friday, March 28, 2025.

The university encourages all community members with livestock to take advantage of this free vaccination program to protect their animals and prevent the spread of anthrax.
