Two students of Mass Communication recently emerged winners at the 35th Anniversary celebration of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), FCT Chapter, following a paper presentation competition titled: “The Role of Technology in Reputation Management: Building a Digital Generation of Communicators.”
Presenting the certificates of excellence to the Vice-Chancellor, the Dean of Communication and Media Studies, Prof. Desmond Onyemechi Okocha, expressed excitement at the students’ outstanding performance. He thanked the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba and the university management team for creating a conducive learning environment for students to thrive.

Prof. Okocha also appreciated the university management’s vision for unbundling the Mass Communication department into the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, noting that it gives Nigerian students broader access to different career paths.
Acknowledging the students’ efforts, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba commended Prof. Okocha for his leadership and professionalism in the faculty, noting his sacrifice and commitment in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Prof. Ayuba further commended staff members Assoc. Prof. Richard Okujeni, Moses Akurega, and Mrs. Bridget Azenda for mentoring the students.

The university community looks forward to celebrating more success stories in the near future.
The highlight of the event was the cash award to the participating students, Peace Sa’adatu Umar and Japheth Ekundayo Obanla, by the Vice-Chancellor.
