BUK VC Commissions Multi-Million Naira Automated Thin Sectioning Machine, Solar Project

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has commissioned a state-of-the-art automated Thin Sectioning Machine and a 3.5KVA solar project at the Geology Department in the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

The machine, purchased by the university, is designed to strengthen research capabilities in mining exploration and analysis. It can cut and grind rock samples down to 30 microns, enabling detailed examination of mineral contents using transmitted and reflected light.

Professor Abbas commended the department's staff for their initiative and emphasized the university's commitment to providing cutting-edge equipment for academic and commercial purposes. He encouraged the staff to utilize the facility for revenue generation, diversifying the university's income streams.
