BUK, KHAIRUN University Foster Collaborations

In its quest to start on a strong footing, the Management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) led by its pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Thursday, 16 November, 2023 paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Bayero University to discuss possible ways strenthening relationship and academic collaboration between the two institutions.

Prof. Garba disclosed that their visit was to seek the University's assistance and mentorship in the areas of academia and to also express their appreciation to the Management of Bayero University for its immense contributions in promoting scholarship not only in Kano but also in the country as a whole, especially BUK's bigger role in the establishment of the KHAIRUN.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University  Kano, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, said that the University was always open and ready to give all the necessary support to the new University by way of ensuring that they reflect on the national requirements in running a private university.

Prof. Abbas expressed optimism that he had no iota of doubt in his mind of the capability of the visiting VC in taking the new University to greater heights, saying, “you are lucky to have Prof. Garba as your VC” as he knows the University system.

In order to start on a very sound footing, Prof. Abbas charged the Management of KHAIRUN to have good policies, adequate funding, embrace ITand be dedicated to delivering their assignment, among other professional pieces of advice for clear demonstration of high leadership skills in the art of running a university.While describing his relationship with Prof. Garba as beyond the usual official engagement, Prof.Abbas expressed optimism that the relationship would yield a favourable outcome for the two institutions.

Present during the visit were the DVC Academics, Prof. Muhammad Gumel; DVC Management Services, Prof. Mahmoud Umar Sani; the University Librarian, Dr. Kabir Dahiru Abbas; the Ag. Registrar, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Umar, Director of VC's Office, Mal. Ahmad Shariff and Deputy Registrars, VC's Office and Public Affairs, Malam Haruna Aliyu and Malam Lamara Garba, respectively. The highlights of the visit were presentation of souvenirs and group photograph.
