The Lagos State Police Command has upgraded the disappearance of LASU graduate Adedamola Ogunbode to a murder investigation after uncovering financial transactions linked to his case.

 The Lagos State Police Command has officially classified the disappearance of Adedamola Ogunbode, a 2024 graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), as an active murder investigation. This development follows significant findings linking financial transactions to individuals connected with Ogunbode’s last known whereabouts.

Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest of three individuals in connection with the case, while five others remain at large. According to reports, those involved received substantial amounts of money from Ogunbode’s account following his visit to the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), pastored by Whepetoji Sunday, on January 16, 2025.

Arrests and Fugitives

The suspects in custody include:

  1. Pastor Whepetoji Sunday – ₦70,000

  2. Sheriff Adebayo (Church Member) – ₦300,000

  3. Omolara Ajisomo – Arrested for aiding the escape of suspects

Meanwhile, those on the run include:

  1. Teniola Ajisomo – ₦300,000

  2. Olaoluwa Ajisomo – ₦300,000

Hundeyin revealed that Teniola and Olaoluwa Ajisomo had fled to Cotonou, Benin Republic, after allegedly receiving funds from the victim’s account.

Ongoing Investigation

The police spokesperson assured that significant progress has been made in the case, with efforts focused on locating Ogunbode’s remains and determining the exact cause of death.

“The command is fully committed to resolving the matter and bringing the perpetrators to justice,” Hundeyin stated.

In response to concerns raised by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh, has directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case for a thorough and detailed probe.

Hundeyin emphasized that the investigation would remain impartial and unhindered by political influences, promising that all aspects of the case would be meticulously examined.

“There is no political interference in this investigation. It will proceed in line with the principles of justice and fairness. The findings will be made known to the public,” he assured.

As the investigation continues, authorities urge anyone with useful information to come forward to aid in ensuring justice for Ogunbode and his family.
