Cleric Arrested for Allegedly Raping 100-Level EKSU Student in Ekiti

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested a 40-year-old cleric, identified as Prophet Oluwatoyin Ajayi, for allegedly raping a 100-level student of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti.
The State Commissioner of Police, Joseph Eribo, disclosed this to journalists over the weekend while briefing the press on recent arrests made by the command.
According to him, the 20-year-old victim had visited the suspect at his residence in Iworoko-Ekiti on September 22, 2025, to seek spiritual help for academic success when the incident occurred.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, under the guise of offering prayers and deliverance, allegedly had carnal knowledge of the victim without her consent,” the Police Commissioner stated.
He assured that the command remains committed to ensuring justice for the victim, adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
The Police also urged parents and guardians to caution their wards against seeking spiritual assistance from unverified individuals, especially in secluded places, to prevent similar incidents.
