The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has paid a courtesy and familiarization visit to the Borno State University.

The visit aims to foster strategic collaboration between the Borno State Police Command and the University management, with a focus on strengthening campus security, enhancing mutual understanding, and ensuring sustained peace and stability both within the university community and the state at large.

In his remarks, CP Naziru Abdulmajid stated that" the purpose of my visit was to partner with BOSU and identify key security-related concerns affecting the institution. Borno State University is a critical asset of government, and its protection remains a top priority of the police".

He further praised the university’s serene and hygienic environment, describing it as highly conducive for learning.

The Commissioner highlighted the emerging threats posed by cybercrime, noting that with the advancement of technology, law enforcement agencies are facing increasingly complex challenges.

In this regard, he appealed for support of the university in combating cybercrime, particularly in the area of capacity building for officers in digital crime prevention and control.

He expressed his readiness to collaborate with BOSU and announced his open-door policy, assuring the university management that his office remains accessible for continuous engagement and partnership.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babagana Gutti, welcomed the Commissioner and his entourage, describing the visit as timely and strategic.

He commended CP Abdulmajid for his versatile experience and forward-thinking approach, stating that Borno State is fortunate to have such a competent officer at the helm of the Police Command and assured of the University’s cooperation." CP, be rest assured of our support and cooperation at all times. I am in particular happy with the presence of police officers on campus, which has contributed immensely to the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by students and staff, "says the VC. 

Professor Gutti however advised on the need to adopt digital-based systems for personal data management as a means to curtail cybercrime, identity fraud, and other security-related offenses.

The event culminated with the presentation of an award to the Commissioner of Police by the Vice-Chancellor in recognition of his leadership and commitment to fight against crime, followed by a group photograph with senior management staff and the visiting police delegation.
