COOU Economics Department Donates Academic Books Ahead Of Accreditation Exercise

The Department of Economics at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, has donated a collection of academic books to the university library as part of preparations for its forthcoming accreditation exercise.

The books were formally presented to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, during a courtesy visit to her office on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

The presentation was attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Obiora Ejiofor, alongside other principal officers of the university.

Leading the delegation, the Head of the Department of Economics, Professor Ogonna Ifebi, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for her support and commitment towards the development of the department.

He explained that the donation was part of the department’s strategic efforts to strengthen academic resources ahead of the accreditation exercise, adding that improved library materials would enhance teaching, learning and research activities.

Receiving the books, Professor Omenugha commended the Department of Economics for its initiative, describing the donation as a demonstration of commitment to academic excellence and institutional growth.

The Vice-Chancellor noted that a well-equipped library is essential for successful accreditation exercises and plays a critical role in promoting quality scholarship within the university.

She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to supporting academic departments in achieving excellence and assured the Department of Economics of continued institutional backing towards a successful accreditation outcome.

Professor Omenugha also appreciated the department’s leadership and staff for the gesture, describing the donation as an investment that would benefit not only Economics students and lecturers but the entire university community.

During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor also celebrated Dr. Chukwunonso Ekesiobi of the Department of Economics, who marked his birthday on the same day, wishing him continued success, good health and greater achievements in his academic career.

The engagement ended with renewed optimism as the department prepares for its accreditation exercise, reflecting COOU’s commitment to its Values, Viability and Visibility (3Vs) agenda.
