Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkari Appointed as Director-General of KASITDA

The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has appointed Dr. Bashir Abdu Muzakkari as the pioneer Director-General of the Kano State Information Technology Development Agency (KASITDA). Dr. Muzakkari brings a wealth of experience in ICT, academia, and public administration to his new role.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Muzakkari served as Special Adviser to the Governor on Digital and Creative Economy, where he played a key role in designing and implementing strategic initiatives, including the Kano State Digital Economy Policy and the Nigeria Startup Act domestication. He has a distinguished academic career, holding a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences.

Dr. Muzakkari has held various leadership positions, including Director of Academic Planning, Director of Consultancy & Investment, and Director of Management Information Systems (MIS) at Northwest University Kano. He also served as Senior Special Assistant on ICTs to Governor Kwankwaso in 2012.

As Director-General of KASITDA, Dr. Muzakkari is expected to lead the agency in shaping Kano's digital future, fostering innovation, promoting ICT-driven development, and championing local talent. His appointment aligns with the state government's ambition to build a knowledge-based economy and position Kano as a leader in Nigeria's digital transformation journey.
