The Chief Medical Director of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu (DUFUTH), Professor Uzoma Agwu, has officially flagged off the Umuka Primary Health Centre as one of the hospital’s satellite facilities, aimed at boosting primary healthcare delivery in the Okposi community.

The Chief Medical Director of David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital, Uburu (DUFUTH), Professor Uzoma Agwu, has officially flagged off the Umuka Primary Health Centre as one of the hospital’s satellite facilities, aimed at boosting primary healthcare delivery in the Okposi community.

Prof. Agwu, accompanied by members of the hospital management team, paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Highness, Eze Cosmos Agwu, at his palace in Okposi before the ceremony. She thanked the royal father for his support and goodwill, noting that the centre would be developed into one of the best in the country under her leadership. She reaffirmed DUFUTH’s commitment to quality healthcare and community engagement, pledging to ensure the project’s success.

Eze Cosmos Agwu welcomed the delegation and praised the hospital’s efforts, pledging continued support for healthcare development and women empowerment. He urged the hospital to prioritise treatment for traditional rulers and their spouses, while encouraging staff to show greater empathy toward patients.

In response, Prof. Agwu announced plans to introduce a “Priority Access Card” for royal families and other key stakeholders, ensuring seamless and prompt medical attention.

The visit ended with the official flag-off ceremony and a community sensitisation session at the Umuka Primary Health Centre.
