Emir Sunusi Attends His First Lecture as Undergraduate Law Student of Northwest University Kano
In a powerful demonstration of lifelong learning, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, PhD, CON, officially attended lectures at the Faculty of Law, Northwest University (Yusuf Maitama Sule University), Kano, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
The 16th Emir, who recently completed a PhD in Law from the University of London, has now enrolled as an undergraduate student to pursue an LL.B in Common Law and Sharia. Entering the program at the 200 Level for the 2024/2025 academic session, the Emir was seen participating in classroom activities alongside fellow students.
The historic appearance has been widely praised as a testament to the fact that age, social hierarchy, and prior academic achievements—including a doctorate—should never serve as barriers to the acquisition of further knowledge.
University staff and students expressed inspiration at the Emir's dedication, noting that his presence in the lecture halls underscores the vital importance of education in personal and national development.
