ESUT Reaffirms Ban on Reckless Driving by Final-Year Students

The management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has reiterated its ban on reckless and incessant driving within and around the university campus after final-year and degree examination activities.

According to the university, the directive remains in force in line with the Enugu State Government's resolution and a memo issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Education (Ref. No. ENS/MOE/COM/PARJ0047) dated 20th December, 2024, to the Vice-Chancellor.

The management warned that it will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any student found violating the directive.

Under the policy:

• Any vehicle impounded or seized for reckless driving will not be released until a fine of ₦500,000 has been paid into the University's coffers.
• The affected student(s) will also face appropriate disciplinary sanctions.

The university has directed all Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments/Units to inform and caution their final-year students to comply strictly with the directive.

In addition, the Chief Security Officer and other law enforcement agencies operating on campus have been placed on high alert to ensure strict enforcement of law and order within the university premises.

Students are therefore advised to obey the directive and avoid any form of reckless driving on campus.
