Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Students Appeal to YSSB Over Delayed Scholarship Payments

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, have issued a formal appeal to the Yobe State Scholarships Board (YSSB) regarding the significant delay in the disbursement of scholarship funds for the 2024/2025 academic session.

In a letter addressed to the Executive Secretary of the YSSB, Dr. Abubakar Bukar Kagu, the students reported that only approximately 30% of eligible applicants have received their payments. The remaining 70% of the student body continues to await their funds, causing growing concern over their ability to meet academic and registration expenses.

The students also extended a humble appeal to the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, requesting his direct intervention. They emphasized that the prompt release of these funds is critical to ensuring students can remain focused on their academic goals without the distraction of financial hardship.

The Yobe State Scholarships Board has been a vital support system for indigent students in the state, and the affected students expressed their hope for a swift resolution by early January 2026.
