Federal Polytechnic Monguno Matriculates 3rd Cohort, Reaffirms Commitment to Excellence

Federal Polytechnic Monguno yesterday held its 3rd Matriculation Ceremony to formally admit newly enrolled students for the 2025/2026 academic session. It was the first major academic event under the institution’s second set of Principal Officers, who assumed office on 17 March 2026.

Rector, Dr. Alhaji Umar Bukar, congratulated the matriculants and urged them to focus on their studies while upholding discipline, integrity, and excellence. He said their admission reflects determination to acquire knowledge and practical skills for personal and national development.

Dr. Bukar warned against examination malpractice, cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, violence, and other social vices, stressing that the polytechnic maintains zero tolerance for misconduct that undermines academic standards.

He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to quality education that produces competent graduates. Despite its young age, he noted, the polytechnic has recorded progress through programme expansion, infrastructural development, and improved capacity.

The Rector listed strategic initiatives underway: strengthening academic quality assurance, promoting staff development, encouraging research and innovation, improving student welfare, boosting internally generated revenue, and accelerating infrastructure projects.

He appreciated the Governing Council, Federal Government, Federal Ministry of Education, NBTE, TETFund, Borno State Government, traditional institutions, security agencies, development partners, and the host community for their support.

Registrar, Mala Garba Hussaini, earlier advised students to be law-abiding and familiarize themselves with institutional rules. The Matriculation Oath was administered by Principal Legal Officer Barr. Babagana Shettima.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Rector Musa Mohammed Grandawa, Polytechnic Librarian Hajiya Zainab Usman Mahmood, Deans, Heads of Department, the Provost of College of Nursing Science Monguno, District Head of Monguno, DPO Monguno, parents, and staff.
