Federal University Gusau (FUGUS), Zamfara State, recently hosted the 2025 Debate, Poetry, and Writing Competitions, an event organized by the Students Representative Council (SRC) to foster academic excellence and creativity among students. The competitions provided a platform for students to showcase their intellectual and literary talents across various categories.
The event, spearheaded by the SRC under the leadership of Comrade Lawal Nafiu, aimed to promote critical thinking, effective communication, and artistic expression among participants. The school management played a crucial role in ensuring the success of the event by providing the necessary support and an enabling academic environment.
Dignitaries in attendance included the Dean of Student Affairs and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Administration, Dr. Lawal Saad, both of whom commended the initiative and reaffirmed the institution's commitment to student development and academic enrichment. Their support underscored the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of intellectual engagement and creativity.
Participants across different faculties engaged in rigorous debates, compelling poetry recitations, and thought-provoking writing contests. The high level of competition demonstrated the depth of talent within the student body and reinforced the significance of extracurricular activities in academic institutions.
The event also received support from student organizations, including the National Association of Niger State Students (NANISS) and the Gbagyi Student Association (GBASA), FUGUS Chapter, whose involvement added to the spirit of unity and encouragement among competitors.
The 2025 SRC-organized competitions at Federal University Gusau highlighted the institution’s dedication to academic brilliance and student empowerment.
