Federal University Lokoja Constitutes Security Relations Committee to Strengthen Campus Safety

The Federal University Lokoja has established a University Community Security Relations Committee as part of efforts to enhance security across the institution and its host communities.

The committee was approved during the university's 123rd Regular Management Meeting to strengthen collaboration between the institution and surrounding communities, particularly on issues relating to security and community engagement.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Jacqueline Badaki, will chair the committee. Its membership includes representatives from the university's security units, law enforcement agencies, traditional institutions, religious bodies, transport unions, staff and student unions, as well as members of the host communities.

According to the university, the committee's broad representation is intended to promote collaboration, intelligence sharing, and collective responsibility in addressing security challenges affecting the institution and its environment.

The Vice-Chancellor, Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, reiterated that security is a shared responsibility requiring the active participation of all stakeholders.

Professor Ibileye said the protection of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration, stressing that lasting security can only be achieved through strong partnerships between the university, security agencies, and host communities.

He explained that the committee was deliberately constituted to bring together all critical stakeholders, noting that sustainable solutions to security challenges depend on open communication, mutual trust, and coordinated action.

The Vice-Chancellor also expressed confidence that the committee would play a vital role in strengthening campus security and fostering a safer environment for members of the university community and residents of the host communities.
