Federal University Lokoja Holds Interfaith Prayers to Mark Opening of Hostels

The Management of Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has organized an interfaith prayer session to mark the official opening of the male and female hostels at its main campus.

The event, which took place at the permanent site in Felele, was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, principal officers, management staff, students' union representatives, and religious leaders.

The prayer session was held to consecrate the buildings and seek God's blessing and protection as students begin to occupy the hostels. The hostels, which were completed almost ten years ago, had not been opened for student use due to security concerns and the need to strengthen the campus security architecture.

Speaking during the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi commended the efforts of the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Yusufu Musa Abdullahi, and his team for completing the renovation work on the buildings. He noted that the university management had reached an agreement with a private firm to facilitate the opening of the hostels.

 

The opening of the hostels has been widely commended by students, parents, and members of the university community. The move is seen as a significant step towards improving student welfare and providing a conducive learning environment.
