Federal University Lokoja Upgrades Two Departments to Full Faculties

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has officially elevated two of its departments to faculty status: the Department of Computer Science is now the Faculty of Computing, while the Department of Mass Communication has become the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies.

This milestone was disclosed during a recent accreditation exercise by the National Universities Commission (NUC), where a team of assessors and experts visited the University to evaluate and re-accredit several academic programmes.

During the exercise, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to ensuring that all university programmes attain full accreditation. He personally led the NUC team on inspections across the University Library, faculty offices, laboratories, studios, and other institutional facilities, demonstrating FUL’s commitment to academic excellence and infrastructural standards.

The upgrade marks a significant step in the University’s growth trajectory, enhancing academic offerings and strengthening its position as a leading institution in Nigeria.
