Federal University of Lafia Introduces E-Voting for Student Elections
The Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has announced plans to introduce electronic voting (e-voting) for student elections, aiming to prevent electoral malpractices and ensure transparency.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman made the announcement during the inauguration of Students Representatives Council (SRC) and Students Integrity Club (SIC) officials.
The move is part of the university's commitment to innovation and excellence, aligning with its core values. Professor Abdul Rahman emphasized the importance of integrity and fairness in student elections, citing recent instances of electoral breaches that led to the cancellation of state students' union elections.
The e-voting system is designed to prevent external interference and ensure students' independence in managing their affairs. The university administration encourages students to utilize suggestion boxes and the Speak-Up program to express their views and report concerns.
This initiative demonstrates FULafia's dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and student empowerment, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking institution.
