FG Committed to Students’ Future, Says FULafia VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, FULafia, Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, has described the Renewed Hope Student Leaders Engagement and Digital Acceleration Programme as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to students’ development and active engagement.
Speaking while welcoming participants from tertiary institutions across the North-Central Zone recently, Professor Kida said the initiative provides a platform for empowering students and strengthening their participation in national development.
He also warned students across the country to shun bad behaviours, especially examination malpractice, stating that no student would be spared if found guilty of indulging in any illegal activity.
At the event, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, Dr Akintunde Sawyerr, urged eligible students to take advantage of the Federal Government’s student loan scheme. He said President Bola Tinubu had approved N303 billion for education loans over the past two years.
Dr Sawyerr disclosed that more than 850,000 students have benefited from the scheme out of over one million applications received.
He said the application process is entirely digital and transparent, and stressed that applicants do not need personal connections to access the loans.
Representing the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, the Director of University Education, Dr Kareem Lateef, said the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to equipping Nigerian students for leadership, innovation and the digital economy.
