Five UNILORITES make Ilorin Emirate Peace Committee

In a demonstration of its capacity to impact positively on its host community, two senior academic staff and three distinguished alumni of the University of Ilorin have been appointed into the Ilorin Emirate Peace and Reconciliation Committee. The Committee was recently constituted by the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), the umbrella sociocultural organisation of the people of Ilorin Emirate.

The UNILORITES appointed into the strategic committee are the Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Nimah Modupe AbdulRaheem and a former Dean, Old Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Prof. Hassan Ajisafe Saliu while the three alumni of the University who made the list are a retired Principal Special Grade, Hajiya Rahmat Olabisi AbdulRahman; the Director, Medical Service, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr Nimat Bola Idris and the Head, Department of Geology and Mineral Sciences, Kwara State University, Malete, Dr Jimoh Ajadi.

In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Mr Abubakar Imam, the Union said that the appointment of the distinguished UNILORITES was premised on their erudition, integrity and capacities to contribute to the development of Ilorin Emirate through the maintenance of peace and tranquility among the people and residents of the Community.

The Committee, which has a former Grand Kadi of Kwara State, Justice Idris Abdullahi Haroon, OFR, as Chairman consists of Justice Lambo Jimoh Akanbi, Justice Saliu Saidu, Shaykh Murtala Nurudeen Alaaya, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Saleeman and a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Baba Adisa Bolanta, fwc, among others.

            The Committee has since been inaugurated and started work.
