Flutterwave Inc. has announced plans to support student development at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) through structured opportunities in artificial intelligence, internships, mentorship, and technology-driven career pathways.
The initiative was disclosed during the official inauguration of the UNIZIK Advancement Management Board, an event attended by senior university leadership, including the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to equipping young Nigerians with relevant digital and technical competencies needed in today’s evolving global economy. He said the programme is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by providing students with practical exposure to emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence.

Agboola explained that the initiative will create structured internship placements, mentorship opportunities, and potential recruitment pathways within Flutterwave and its partner ecosystem. He added that the goal is to build a talent pipeline that connects university education directly to real-world industry demand.
The planned intervention is expected to improve graduate employability outcomes while strengthening UNIZIK’s positioning as a growing hub for technology and innovation talent development in Nigeria.
Stakeholders at the event commended the university’s leadership for fostering strategic partnerships with private sector actors, describing the initiative as a forward-looking step toward innovation-driven education and capacity building.
