FPOG Rector Urges Bonny Youths to Leverage Polytechnic Opportunities for Oil and Gas Careers

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, Dr. Victor Okolobah, has called on youths in Bonny Island to take full advantage of the academic and professional opportunities available at the institution to prepare for careers in the oil and gas sector.

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas (FPOG), Bonny, Dr. Victor Okolobah, has called on youths in Bonny Island to take full advantage of the academic and professional opportunities available at the institution to prepare for careers in the oil and gas sector.

Dr. Okolobah made the call on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, during a courtesy visit by members of the Abamalambie Youth Movement (AYM).

The Rector stressed that Bonny youths do not need to leave the island in search of higher education, noting that FPOG provides opportunities for young people to acquire relevant education and skills within the community.

He added that the Polytechnic’s collaboration with oil and gas companies operating on the island gives its graduates opportunities to access employment within the sector.

Dr. Okolobah also encouraged young people to take advantage of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing it as a Federal Government initiative designed to provide financial support to eligible students.

He noted that, in addition to school fees, beneficiaries receive a monthly stipend of N20,000 for feeding, which could help reduce financial barriers to tertiary education.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, the AYM leader, Mr. Johnny Hart, said the group visited the Polytechnic to reconnect with the institution and gain a better understanding of its operations.

He commended the progress recorded under the current management and expressed the group’s readiness to collaborate with the institution in areas of mutual interest.

Mr. Hart also assured the management of the youth movement’s continued support in protecting and securing the Polytechnic.
