FUE Zaria Celebrates Nigeria’s Cultural Diversity and Unity at 2026 SRC Carnival

The Federal University of Education, Zaria, came alive today with a vibrant display of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage as the Students’ Representative Council, SRC, organised the 2026 Cultural Carnival.  

Held in the historic city of Zaria, the Centre of Learning, the carnival brought together students from diverse ethnic, cultural and geographical backgrounds in a celebration of unity, identity and national pride.  

The event provided a platform for students to showcase Nigeria’s diverse cultures through traditional attire, cultural displays and artistic expressions, turning the University into a colourful representation of the nation’s cultural mosaic.  

The celebration was graced by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, alongside members of the University Management, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Prof. Kabiru Haruna Danja; Ag. Registrar, Mal. Shehu Iya Sa’idu; Ag. Bursar, Alh. Muhammad Kabiru Aliyu, as well as Directors, Deans, staff and friends of the University.  

The carnival underscored the importance of cultural diversity as a source of strength, mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence. It also gave students the opportunity to celebrate their heritage and appreciate the traditions of others.  

Beyond entertainment, the 2026 SRC Cultural Carnival served as a powerful expression of unity in diversity, demonstrating that Nigeria’s different cultures can coexist, interact and celebrate together as one nation.  

The event was therefore a celebration not only of culture and identity, but also of national unity, peaceful coexistence and the shared values that bind Nigerians together.
