FUE Zaria Vice-Chancellor Holds Consultative Meeting with NASU and NAAT Leadership
In a move to foster industrial harmony and collaborative governance, the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, held a high-level interactive session with the leadership of two key non-academic labor unions.
The meeting, conducted at the university’s administrative headquarters on Friday, January 16, 2026, involved the Chairmen of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).
The delegation, led by Engr. Abubakar Sadiq (NASU) and Comr. Lawal Umar (NAAT), noted that the visit was primarily for familiarization following the institution's ongoing transition and development phases. The union leaders provided the Vice-Chancellor with a comprehensive briefing on their respective activities, emphasizing their commitment to the university’s growth while advocating for the welfare of their members.
Professor Bunkure welcomed the interactive session, describing the non-academic staff as critical pillars in the successful administration of the university. He underscored the importance of maintaining an open-door policy with all unions to ensure a peaceful academic environment.
The discussions also touched upon the union's roles in supporting the university's technical and administrative infrastructure as FUE Zaria continues its expansion for the 2026 academic year. This engagement follows the university's recent updates on its 2025/2026 admission lists, signaling a period of intensive administrative activity at the institution.
